successes

Barry Dagger took part in two Olympic Games . In 1976 he finished 24th in Montreal with the small-bore rifle in the three-position battle. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he and Andreas Kronthaler achieved the second-best result behind Philippe Heberlé with 587 points . Since Kronthaler's last series of shots was two points better than Dagger's series, he received the silver medal, while Dagger won bronze.

At world championships he won the title with the small-bore team in the kneeling attack in Seoul in 1978 and in Caracas in 1982 . In 1978, 1979 and 1982 he also secured two more silver and four bronze medals. In 1978 he was runner-up in the individual world championship with the air rifle, his best result in an individual competition. Dagger won at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 in the pair competition with the small bore in the three-position battle, the gold medal and in the pair competition with the air rifle silver.
