Andreas Kronthaler (born March 11, 1952 in Erl , Tyrol ) is a former Austrian sports shooter .

Career

Andreas Kronthaler studied at the Montan University Leoben and became a member of Corps Schacht in 1973 , from which he later left. He competed in air rifle shooting at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Behind the French Philippe Heberlé , who won the competition with 589 rings, the Briton Barry Dagger and Andreas Kronthaler scored 587 rings. The two shot the medals among themselves, with Kronthaler winning with 36 rings versus 22 rings by Dagger and receiving the silver medal. In 1985 Kronthaler won the bronze medal at both the world championships and the European championships. He was also able to win a total of five world championship medals with the crossbow.

Kronthaler is a qualified mining engineer and started working for the Königstetten shooting club during his career . He trained with the former world champion Gottfried Kustermann from the Federal Republic of Germany .

In 1996 he received the Silver Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria .
