Königstetten is a market town with 2526 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Tulln district in Lower Austria .

geography

Königstetten is located south of Langenlebarn , Muckendorf-Wipfing and Zeiselmauer-Wolfpassing on the southern edge of the Tullnerfeld and on the northern edge of the Vienna Woods in Lower Austria . The area of ​​the market town covers 13.04 square kilometers, 42.07 percent of which is forested.

The name Königstetten is derived from Chunihohesstetin . Chunihohe is a Middle High German male name. The first mention can be found in a document from Bishop Pilgrim of Passau (971–991).

The place has a brass band and a strong association. Furthermore, the volunteer fire brigade celebrates its 140th anniversary in 2014 and is the oldest fire brigade in Tullnerfeld.

A public swimming pool has existed in Königstetten since 1905. The "Parkbad", which had previously been abandoned for financial reasons, was redesigned in 2010 and reopened in July 2010.

The sport shooting club in Königstetten, founded in 1973, achieved many international successes.
