Barry Melton
Barry Melton (born June 14, 1947 in New York City ) is an American rock musician.
Life & work
Melton was best known under his nickname The Fish . He was a founding member and guitarist of the group Country Joe and the Fish . He played on all Country Joe and the Fish albums and wrote some songs for the band. He performed with the band at the Monterey Pop and Woodstock Festival .
After Country Joe and the Fish broke up, Melton pursued his own projects and recorded some solo albums. In the early 1980s he also founded the psychedelic supergroup The Dinosaurs .
In 1977 there was a brief reunion of Country Joe and the Fish for an album. Even later he occasionally performed together with his former partner Country Joe McDonald . However, the collaboration never led to a joint recording.
Barry Melton has been a full-time attorney in California since the 1980s . Nevertheless, he can still occasionally be seen on stage together with other well-known Westcoast musicians. 2004 and 2005 he toured in Europe . Melton is married and has two sons.
