Barshi is a city in the state of Maharashtra in western India . It is part of the Solapur district . Barshi is administered as the Municipal Council. It is 373 kilometers from Barshi to Mumbai . The Barshi Municipal Council was founded in 1865.

The city's population is 118,722 according to the 2011 census. Barshi has a gender ratio of 953 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 85.6% in 2011. Almost 80.5% of the population are Hindus , approx. 16.2% are Muslims , approx. 2.0% are Jainas , approx. 0.8% are Buddhists , 0 .4% are Christians and approx. 0.2% belong to other or no religions. 11.3% of the population are children under six years of age.
