Barthélémy Mesas (born July 21, 1931 in Marseille , † December 30, 2012 in Alès ) was a French football player .

Career

Left midfielder Mesas joined Olympique Marseille at the age of 17 ; During the 1951/52 season he made the first leap into the first division team. He made his professional debut on January 6, 1952, when he ran up in the 2-0 defeat against FC Sète in the top French division. From then on, the physically strong player came to regular missions for the team with which he reached the national cup final in 1954 ; in the final he was on the field, but missed the title win due to a 1: 2 defeat against OGC Nice . Instead, he won his first trophy with the Coupe Charles Drago in 1957.

In 1958 the professional moved to the second division club SO Montpellier . With Montpellier, he won the second division championship in 1961, which at the same time brought the rise to the top class. Subsequently he remained a regular player until he ended his career at the end of 1964 at the age of 33 after 197 first division games with three goals and 110 second division games with one goal. Mesas retired from football until his death in 2012.
