Bartholomeus Assteyn
Bartholomeus Abrahamsz Assteyn (* 1607 in Dordrecht , † after 1669) was a Dutch still life - painter and draftsman . From Assteyn, who signed B. Astijn from 1630 to 1640 , around 25 pictures are known today. There is also a known work with fruits with the signature B. Assteyn from 1647, which was located in Vienna.
Life
Bartholomeus Assteyn was the son of the painter Abraham Bartholomeusz Assteyn . In 1631 he became a member of the Saint Luke painters' guild in Dordrecht, succeeding his father. In 1651 he was an accountant for the local painters' brotherhood. The exact date of his death is not known; his last known work dates from 1669.

Assteyn's compositions are mainly influenced by Johannes Bosschaert , his painting technique is reminiscent of Balthasar van der Ast, with whom he was regarded by some as identical. One of his still lifes is said to have been in the museum in Emden.
