The Bartlett Glacier is a 50 km long and up to 8 km wide glacier that flows from the Nilsen Plateau in a north-easterly direction to the Scott Glacier , which it reaches north of Mount Gardiner .
It was discovered in December 1934 by the geological team under Quin Blackburn (1900-1981) on the second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) of the American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . Byrd named the glacier after the Canadian Arctic explorer Robert Bartlett (1875-1946), who recommended the expedition to buy the research ship USS Bear .
