Barwani is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh .
The city is located 125 km southwest of Indore . The Narmada flows 5 km north of Barwani in a westerly direction. Barwani is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . In the 2011 census, the population was around 55,000. Barwani was the capital of the former princely state of the same name .
