Bastiaan "Bas" Belder (born October 25, 1946 in Ridderkerk ) is a Dutch politician ( SGP ).

Belder has been a member of the European Parliament since 1999 . In 2004 he was the top candidate of the SGP, after which the party entered into a joint alliance with the ChristenUnie (CU) under Hans Blokland . In 2009, both parties ran together for parliament, but at the beginning of the 7th electoral term there was a break between the two parties: While the CU joined the newly formed Group of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), Belder went to the Europe of Freedom Group and democracy (EVS). Since 2009 he has been the chairman of the delegation on the EU's relationship with Israel. In addition, Belder is a member of the Conference of Delegation Chairs , the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defense Policy and the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean . Belder was re-elected in the 2014 European elections and has now moved to the ECR Group .
