The Basalt Lake is a lake on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the Byers Peninsula , it is 1.9 km east of Usnea Plug and 1.5 km southeast of Chester Cone .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1993 for its location surrounded by three basalt protrusions .
