Basic Interoperable Scrambling System

Basic Interoperable Scrambling System , more common than BISS , is an encryption system for satellite TV , which by the European Broadcasting Union has been developed and a consortium of hardware manufacturers.

The transmission of a BISS-encrypted station takes place using a twelve hexadecimal digit wide session key that is negotiated in advance between the TV station and the recipient. BISS is, among other things for the feed of earthTV used, among other things, the German news channel N24 is used. Many other feeds, especially for pay TV, also use BISS. TRT uses it at times at 42 ° East, e.g. B. for Bundesliga broadcasts, while Irdeto2 is used on 7 ° East. The BBC uses BISS on Intelsat 907 27.5 ° West for DVB-T feed.
