Basil Moses

Basil Moses (* 1941 in District Six ; † June 5, 2011 in Cape Town ) was a South African jazz musician ( double bass ).

Moses first played with his brother Clifford Moses in the vocal group The Heart Drops before switching to bass. He then belonged to the Four Sounds . Since the mid-1970s he worked in the bands of Abdullah Ibrahim and Sathima Bea Benjamin , with whom he recorded various albums. He was also on tour with Percy Sledge in South Africa. He also accompanied Herb Ellis and James Moody . He can also be heard on albums by Johannes Enders , Dave Lithins and Mac McKenzie & The Goema Captains of Cape Town .
