The saddle roof of the nave is supported by 16 columns and is still in colonial style, the walls are made of clay as bahareque surfaces. On the left side of the entrance there is a square tower with a round upper floor. The two portraits of Our Lady of Guadalupe are significant . One is a painting that completes the main altar as an altarpiece, the other is a wooden statue that is venerated in the niche to the right of the altar. This statue of the Virgin Mary was canonically crowned on December 12, 1992 according to the decree of Pope John Paul II .

At the side of the church there is a spacious square that can accommodate around 20,000 people at church services. This space is used in particular for the arrival of the Virgin Mary on December 11th and 12th on the day of the apparition of Mary in Mexico and on February 27th to celebrate the day the image was found on the coast. The El Carrizal place of worship is also located on the square.
