Gellendin Chapel
The Evangelical Chapel Gellendin is a chapel in Gellendin , a district of the city of Anklam in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The church belongs to the provost Pasewalk in Pomeranian Protestant parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
location
The village street leads to the historic village center from all four directions. The chapel stands northwest of this intersection on a slightly elevated plot of land with a church cemetery which is enclosed with a hedge .
history
The parish states that the structure was built after the Thirty Years War . A first mention can be found in the "Detailed description of the current state of the royal. Prussian Herogthum Vor und Hinterpommern ”from 1779. There appears“ Gellendin, in which a chapel is ”. In 1793, Fabri added in his “Geography for all estates” that “Gellendin, (the latter) with a chapel, is parish in Pelsin”. The building was renovated at the beginning of the 21st century with the support of a foundation from Hamburg.
Building description
The building with a rectangular floor plan was essentially made of mixed masonry, which was then plastered . There is a beehive-shaped window on the east wall. A bell hangs in a small porch in the gable above ; behind it are three pressed-segment arched panels . On the north side are two small, also pressed-segment-arch-shaped windows; a large window on the south side. The entrance is from the west via a simple gate, above which is another window. The chapel has a simple gable roof .
Furnishing
The late baroque church furnishings are described by the parish as "simple". These include a pulpit , a western gallery , the chairs and an altar barrier. In addition, a plaque commemorates those who fell from the First World War . In the album of Pomeranian architectural and art monuments from 1899, there is also a report of a silver wafer box, which "is very rare among the church equipment of the province of Pomerania". A bronze bell hangs in the eastern gable, replacing a previous model from 1747.
