Bassadewitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bassadewitz , also called Passadewitz , Bassarowitz or Passarowitz , is a primarily historically relevant card and trick game for 4 participants. The game is similar to junk in Skat and traditionally it is played with a German hand. The aim is to get as few points as possible.

Style of play

Bassadewitz is played with 32 cards, traditionally with a German hand and more modern with a French hand. In its style of play, it corresponds to a simple trick-taking game. The game is usually played with four players, but can also be played with three or five players.

The aim of every player is to keep his number as low as possible at the end of the game. The ranking of the cards is Ace / Daus (5 eyes or 11 eyes), King (4 eyes), Queen / Upper (3 eyes), Jack / Under (2 eyes), 10 (10 eyes), 9 (0 eyes) , 8 (0 eyes), 7 (0 eyes), there is no trump card . Together there are 96 or 120 eyes in the game.

If there are four other players, 8 cards are dealt and the game accordingly lasts eight rounds in which each player plays one card. In a three-player game, each player receives 10, and in a five-player game, each player receives 6 cards. The dealer's left neighbor (forehand) leads. The other players operate the color clockwise ( duty to operate ) and whoever cannot operate discards any card. The player with the highest card of the suit played wins the trick.

A walk-through is achieved when a player takes all 8 tricks.

Rating

The rating is made differently depending on the source. You can either play for tokens or coins, or points are awarded.

Game for points

Players who received fewer than 49 points at the end of the game receive points after the game:

  • 0 eyes = 10 points except when marching through
  • 1 to 24 eyes = 6 points
  • 25 to 48 eyes = 2 points.

A walk through is worth 10 points.

Game of tokens

At the beginning of the game, the game master and dealer pays 12 tokens to the bank, and each player also receives a few tokens as starting capital. If you haven't won a trick or have won the fewest points at the end of the game, you get 5 tokens from the bank, the next 4 and the third 3 tokens. The player with the highest number of points pays 4 tokens to each player. In the event of a walk-through, no player gets tokens from the bank and all players must pay 4 tokens to the player with the walk-through. Then the player to the left of the last dealer becomes the new game master and puts 12 tokens into the bank.

In Schafkopf and Skat there is the junk game variant with similar rules. The peculiarity of Bassadewitz is the position of the 10, which is relatively far behind in the ranking of the cards, but brings in the highest number by far.
