Bassface Swing Trio

The Bassface Swing Trio is a trio that plays traditional swing . It was founded in 2003 by the bassist Jean-Philippe Wadle . Since then it has existed in its original line-up with pianist Thilo Wagner and drummer Florian Hermann.

History of origin

Wadle met pianist Wagner at a concert at which they both played together for the first time. Wagner is a gifted swing pianist, best known for his collaboration with Emil Mangelsdorff and the Thilo Berg Bigband . Wadle asked Wagner whether he would like to found an "old school swing trio" with him.

The drummer Florian Hermann became the third member of the trio. He could be heard at the jazz festivals in Montreux , Honolulu, Belfort, Turin, Zurich, Hanover a. v. a. He played with well-known musicians such as Mike Smith, Jiggs Whigham , Tony Lakatos , James Moody , Bobby Shew and Bill Ramsey .
