Bastien Dubois (born September 8, 1983 ) is a French animator and director .

Life

Dubois studied at the Supinfocom School of Animated Film Technology in Valenciennes , which he graduated from in 2006. He then worked as a webmaster and for video game animation .

As an avid backpacker , he was also drawn to Madagascar . There he made a travel diary with numerous drawings in which he summarized his experiences, etc. a. a visit to a Famadihana , documented. In two years of work, he created the eleven-minute animated film Madagascar - A Travel Diary (orig .: Madagascar, carnet de voyage ), which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival . The highly acclaimed film won awards in Ottawa and at the Festival d'Animation in Annecy . At the 2011 Academy Awards , Dubois received a nomination for Best Animated Short Film .
