Batbayar Chogsom
Batbayar Chogsom (* 1974 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a Swiss-Mongolian filmmaker .
life and work
Batbayar Chogsom grew up in Ulaanbaatar and came to Switzerland in 2000. In Zurich he studied popular cultures, ethnology and political science. He completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Zurich in social sciences. After graduating, he worked as an archivist in the graphics collection and the collection of historical photographs at the State Museum . With his first feature film Out of Paradise (2018), which premiered at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2018 , Chogsom won the main prize "Best Film" at the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) that same year .
Chogsom lives with his family of three in Rapperswil, Switzerland (Canton St. Gallen).
