Batscho Kiro

Batscho Kiro , bourgeois Kiro Petro Sanew , ( Bulgarian Бачо Киро ; * July 7, 1835 in Byala Cherkva ; † May 28, 1876 in Veliko Tarnowo ) was a Bulgarian writer and revolutionary.

Life

Kiro worked as a teacher and wrote travelogues and a drama.

In 1876, Kiro took part in the Bulgarian April uprising against Ottoman rule. He was one of the leaders in Popen Chariton's department . After the uprising was put down, he was hanged in the center of Veliko Tarnovo.

Bacho Kiro Peak in Grahamland in Antarctica has been named after him since 2012 .
