The Battleship Promontory (German: Battleship Landspitze ) is a headland made of sandstone in the Convoy Range of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It extends as the foothills of Mount Gran in a northerly direction into the head end of the Alatna Valley and is flanked to the east by the Gran Glacier .
The descriptive naming was also suggested by the American geologist Parker Emerson Calkin (1933-2017), who carried out stratigraphic surveys in the Alatna Valley between 1960 and 1961 .
