The Herrenstein peasantry or simply Herrenstein is a district of the city of Drensteinfurt in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Geographical location

Herrenstein is located in the Warendorf district in the Münsterland ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) and is historically closely linked to the past of the village of Walstedde (district of Drensteinfurt since 1969).

Herrenstein is eight kilometers from the town centers of Drensteinfurt in the north and Hamm in the south.

The area of ​​Herrenstein borders the village farmers in the north, Kurrick and Krähenland in the west, Heessen in the south and Frielick and Dasbeck in the east. About 250-300 inhabitants (estimated values) live in an area of ​​around 7–9 km².

Buildings and monuments

Rubbert Mühle is located at the intersection of Bundesstrasse 63 and Ahlener Strasse. The mill has long been shut down and the building has been converted into a residential unit with a viewing platform.

The Schnadestein is located in the " Dreiländereck " Ahlen-Walstedde-Heessen and is the starting point for the Schnadegang many clubs. The Walstedder Heimatverein organized the Schnadegang for the fifth time. It all started in 1995 with the Heimatverein Heessen. Since then, the hike has not only been a fixed date in the calendar of the Walstedder and Heessener Heimatfreunde. Clubs from Ahlen, Dolberg, Heessen, Bockum-Hövel, Herbern, Drensteinfurt and Rinkerode are also invited to the Schnadegang.

  • The motorsport club Walstedde is based in Herrenstein; the club was founded in the 1960s and was regenerated again in 2007.
  • The HIG or Herrensteiner Interest Group was formed in 2009 to raise and maintain the social coexistence in this small farming community.
  • The cycle path interest group on the B 63 was active in the 1990s and contributed to the realization of the traffic route on the busy main road.
