BAUMANN Federn AG (international market presence BAUMANN Springs Ltd.) is an independent, international group of companies with the main plant in Ermenswil SG near Rüti ZH . With 1,600 employees in eleven countries around the world, the company develops, produces and sells technical springs, stamped parts and contact elements according to customer specifications. The customers are bulk buyers from the fields of automotive , medical technology , medium and high voltage , low voltage and electronics as well as machine and engine construction .

history

The company was founded in 1886 by the brothers Kaspar and Heinrich Baumann and initially manufactured weaving utensils and wooden articles. Around 1900 production was shifted to steel springs. The main customers were the nearby manufacturers of textile machines, including the Rüti machine factory, and later automobile manufacturers in Italy .

In 1933 the general partnership was converted into a stock corporation. At the same time, Henri Rüegg, a half-brother of the founder Baumann, took over management of the company. After Rüegg's death, his sons Hans and Theodor Rüegg took over the company in 1960. After a subsidiary was founded in Italy in 1946 , the company expanded to Germany in 1964 (there as Baumann GmbH based in Lichtenstein- Unterhausen) and in 1979 to Singapore and the USA . From 1984 to 2010, the group was headed by Hans R. Rüegg. This continued the international expansion by founding further subsidiaries .

At the beginning of 2011 Thomas H. Rüegg, son of Hans R. Rüegg, took over the management of the BAUMANN Group. The company is now in the 5th generation.
