Bautista Heguy (born December 18, 1970 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine polo player with a handicap of 9.

Life

Bautista "Bauti" Heguy was born into a family of polo players. His grandfather Antonio Heguy played polo and in 1932 he was also a co-founder of the Chapaleufú club, the first polo club in the Argentine pampas. His sons, Horacio and Alberto Pedro Heguy, followed in his footsteps and achieved handicap 10. Alberto Pedro took part in the Argentine Open 28 times .

Bautista is the youngest son of Horacio Heguy. His brothers are Horacio (Jun), Gonzalo (†) and Marcos. These played together in the Chapaleufú I team , also known as Chapa Uno for short, and made it the first team that consists only of brothers. It was most successful in the early 1990s, between 1991 and 1996 Chapa Uno only lost one final of the aArgentine Open . Bautista Heguy last won the Open in 2001. He reached the maximum handicap of 10, but has since been downgraded to 9.

Since 1988 he has played a total of 19 times in the Argentine Open, won five times and made it into the final four times. He held the Open's goal record for a long time with 531 goals and has only recently been trumped by Adolfo Cambiaso . He also won the Hurlingham Open six times and the Tortugas Open three times . Outside Argentina he was successful at the Queen's Cup (Great Britain), the USPA Gold Cup (USA) and the Gold Cup Deauville (France). For his achievements in polo, he received the Olimpia de Plata , an award for Argentine athletes, several times .

Apart from Indios Chapaleufu, he has played for the Geebung, Azzurra and Black Watch teams. He played u. a. in France , England and the USA .

He is not married and apart from polo he also works as a horse breeder.
