The Bay of Winds ( English for bay of the winds ) is a bay on the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Marie Land . It is between Cape Dovers and the Avalanche Rocks .
It was discovered by the team from the West Base of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . Mawson named it after the almost constant prevailing winds that blow from the polar plateau into the bay.
