As military plenipotentiary of Bavaria in the 19th century and until the end of the monarchy were 1919 military attachés called. The Bavarian military plenipotentiary in Berlin represented the interests of the Bavarian army independently, without being affiliated or subordinate to the Bavarian legation in Berlin. The office was set up after Bavaria and Prussia had concluded a protection and defiance alliance in 1867 , which resulted in the need for ongoing coordination.
