Be-Bop Deluxe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Be-Bop Deluxe was a British progressive rock group from the 1970s. The band's style ranged from glam rock to pop to heavy metal .

history

Be-Bop Deluxe was founded in 1972 by guitarist Bill Nelson in Wakefield , West Yorkshire . The other founding members were guitarist Ian Parkin, bassist and singer Robert Bryan and drummer Nicholas Chatterton-Dew. In 1974 her album Ax Victim was released , the style of which has been compared to David Bowie's glam rock . A little later Nelson disbanded the group in order to rebuild it with other musicians.

In addition to Nelson, the new line-up consisted of Paul Jeffreys (bass), Milton Reame-James (keyboard) and Simon Fox (drums). Jeffreys and Reame-James soon left the band, however, and bassist Charlie Tumahai joined. This formation recorded the album Futurama . Keyboardist Andy Clark joined the tour afterwards , with whom the group also recorded other albums, all of which were successful in the British charts. The highest position reached in 1977 the live album Live! In The Air Age - it rose to number 10. The year before, the band had a surprising hit single with Ships in the Night at number 23. In 1978 the band finally broke up.
