Harvest Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harvest Records is a record label founded by EMI in 1969 .

history

The label was created by EMI for progressive rock music and had well-known artists such as Barclay James Harvest , Deep Purple , Pink Floyd , The Move and Electric Light Orchestra under contract. In the course of the 1970s, the focus switched to post-punk bands.

Since the release of the Pink Floyd album " The Final Cut " in 1983, Harvest Records is no longer operated by EMI as an independent label. Since then, the label name has only been used occasionally for best-of collections from original Harvest artists ( e.g. Syd Barrett ) or when new EMI releases fit the Harvest image. Since the 1990s, acid techno or electronica works by musicians such as Air Liquide ("Stroboplastics", 1995), The Bionaut ("Lush Life Electronica", 1995), Kron ("Gold Und Liebe", 1998) have appeared. , Computer Jockeys ("Computer Jockeys", 1999) or The Future Sound of London presents The Amorphous Androgynous ("Alice In Ultraland", 2005).
