Jörg Burger

Jörg Burger (* 1962 ) is a Cologne musician and producer of electronic music and techno . He uses the stage names Burger Industries , The Bionaut , The Modernist and Triola , among others .

Life

Together with his partner Wolfgang Voigt (Mike Ink), Burger is considered to be one of the first representatives of minimal techno in Germany and a co-founder of the so-called " Sound of Cologne ". After several years as a songwriter, bassist and guitarist in guitar pop bands, where he achieved a Top 40 chart placement for his band Les Immer Essen with the title Hand-Take in 1985 , Burger began to deal with electronic music in the late 1980s. Its first release in this genre came in 1990 on Thomas Fehlmann's label Teutonic Beats . A year later he founded the label Trance Atlantic and Monochrome together with Wolfgang Voigt , on which both published music together. Together with Ingmar Koch ("Dr. Walker") and Cem Oral ("Jammin 'Unit") from the band Air Liquide , Burger founded the Blue label in 1992

Together with Wolfgang Voigt and his brother Reinhard Voigt and Jürgen Paape , Burger founded a record store on March 1, 1993 under the name Delirium in Cologne, which was later renamed Kompakt and from which the label Kompakt emerged .

After a brief departure from electronic dance music in the mid-1990s as The Bionaut , he designed his alter-ego The Modernist in 1997 , which brought him back to the clubs. Also in 1997 Jörg Burger founded the graphics agency Granit together with the compact designer Bianca Strauch in Cologne .

After publications on the record labels Eat Raw / Groove Attack, Harvest / EMI , Matador US & UK, The Popular Organization / Sony Music , Burger has been releasing mainly on the Kompakt label as Triola since 2004 , with Wolfgang Voigt as Burger / Voigt and Mohn as well as solo under his real name. With the Düsseldorf musician Stefan Schwander (Antonelli Electr.) He released in 2001 under the project name Pop Up .

The Cologne Tape project emerged from the collaboration with the musician Michaela Dippel and other musicians, the album Render of which was released in 2010.
