Michael Mayer (born November 12, 1971 in the Black Forest) is a DJ , remixer and producer in the field of electronic dance music .

He is A&R and head of the Cologne techno label Kompakt . He was also employed as a reviewer for the techno magazine Frontpage .

Life

In 1990 Mayer started his DJ career with his own broadcast on the radio station RTO 100.6. Later he was resident DJ in the Discotheque Why Not in Achern near Baden-Baden. From 1994 to 1996 he was resident DJ at the IZ Club in Cologne.

In 1998 the album giving and taking by Forever Sweet was released , a music project that consisted of Reinhard Voigt and Tobias Thomas alongside Mayer . In the same year Mayer's first mix CD, Kompakt Köln Presents Michael Mayer, was released . In March 2002 the second mix CD was released, Immer . SPEICHER 2 with Love is stronger than pride together with Reinhard Voigt's Supertiel on the back became a club hit and was voted one of the best tracks of 2002 in the Groove Magazine Readers Poll.

In 2003 Mayer's mix CD Fabric 13 was released , from the compilation series Fabric . According to XLR8R magazine , it is considered one of the 100 most influential albums in the past 13 years. In Groove Magazine the album was voted one of the 50 most important compilations by DJs and authors. Mayer's first solo album Touch was released in November 2004 . In the Raveline 's Reader's Poll 2006 , Michael Mayer was voted 9th among the best national DJs.

In addition to Forever Sweet, Mayer was involved in the music projects Friends Xperiment Sound System (with Tobias Thomas), SuperMayer (with Superpitcher ), Zimt (with Matias Aguayo ) and Mayburg (with Jörg Burger ).
