Tobias Thomas (DJ)

Tobias Thomas (* April 1970 ) is a German DJ and music producer in the field of electronic music as well as a music journalist.

Tobias Thomas was born in April 1970 in southern Germany. Since the early 1990s he has belonged to the narrow circle of the Cologne electronics label Kompakt . Since 1990 he has been working as a DJ and music producer. He was involved in projects like Thomas / Mayer and Forever Sweet and has published together with Dettinger , Superpitcher , Jörg Burger , Geiger, Michael Mayer , Reinhard Voigt and Ada.

Thomas worked for the music magazine Spex from 2000 to 2007 as an editor. a. edited the monthly electronic music column Data Pop . In 2001 the compilation Data Pop was created . Together with the entire editorial team, Tobias Thomas left Spex when they moved to Berlin . Since 2007 he has been working as an editor and program assistant at the Cologne music festival c / o pop , where he was the festival program director from 2009 to 2013. Thomas has been working for the Kompakt label as a project manager and artist agent since 2014.

Thomas has been hosting the Total Confusion club night in Cologne since 1998, together with Michael Mayer and Superpitcher . He is also a regular guest at the Panorama Bar in Berlin , the Robert Johnson in Offenbach am Main , the Low Club in Madrid and at the Tanzhalle Forever parties in Hamburg . Until summer 2006 Total Confusion took place every Friday in Studio 672, since December 2007 only every first Friday of the month in Bogen 2 of Cologne's Hohenzollern Bridge. In July 2008 the Total Confusion series celebrates its tenth anniversary. In December 2014, the series was discontinued after 16 years with a large event in Cologne's city garden.

The mix CDs Für Dich (1999), Smallville (2003) and Please Please Please (2007) were released on Kompakt . As part of the Forever Sweet group , he released the album Give & Take (Ladomat, 1998).
