resume

After graduating from school in 1992 and spending a year abroad in Montpellier , France , Strauch studied mathematics at the University of Cologne from 1993 to 1999 . Since 1994 she has worked as a graphic designer and DJ . From 1995 to 1999 she was Art Director of the Cologne music fanzine House Attack .

From 1996 to 2000 she worked for Kompakt, where she was responsible for the corporate design of the label and the affiliated record store. The point that characterizes the CD, which can also be found in the logo, was developed by her. During this time she created the record covers for publications by compact artists such as Wolfgang Voigt , Reinhard Voigt , Jürgen Paape and Olaf Dettinger. The minimalist covers of other labels founded by Wolfgang Voigt such as Profan or Studio 1 were also designed by Strauch.

Strauch was also responsible for the covers of numerous publications on Harvest Records , including the covers of the Harvest compilations Battery Park (1996) and In Technicolor (1997) or albums by the band Air Liquide and the musician Khan .

Together with Jörg Burger , she founded the Cologne-based graphics agency Granit in 1997 , where she worked until 2000. In the same year she stopped working as a DJ. Since then, Strauch has been working as a freelance graphic designer. After stays in Berlin and Rome, she returned to Kompakt from 2005 to 2006.

Her cover of Thomas Fehlmann's album Honigpumpe , the title of which goes back to Joseph Beuys ' installation Honey Pump in the Workplace , was created in 2007 in weeks of manual labor.

Bianca Strauch has lived and worked in Hamburg since 2006. Together with Frank Maximilian Freytag she founded the agency Mjam Mjam Design in Hamburg-Altona .
