Hans Nieswandt

Hans Nieswandt (* 1964 in Mannheim ) is a German DJ , music producer , journalist and book author from Cologne . His music is a mixture of techno , house , disco music and generally electronic music .

biography

Hans Nieswandt has been playing records since his youth, and in 1983 he was paid for it for the first time. Since the beginning of the 1990s he has been a regular DJ in clubs and at parties on the weekends . During this time his successful Whirlpool Productions project was born . In addition to numerous own record releases, he also remixes for other musicians.

When WDR transmitter EinsLive he was active for many years as a moderator. He also writes for many magazines such as Spex , Groove , taz and others. He represented German culture in Brazil , Mexico , South Africa , the Middle East and Turkey for the Goethe Institute . In 2002 his first book plus minus eight appeared , in which he describes life as a DJ.

Since January 2014, Nieswandt has been artistic director of the master’s degree in pop music at the Institute for Popular Music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Bochum. At the start, there will be eight Master’s degrees per semester, but in the end it will be at least 32. Interdisciplinarity is a Folkwang specialty. The applicants for the master’s positions present themselves with their own art projects, which are then supported and accompanied by the institute if the application is successful. As artistic director, Nieswandt takes on the conceptual and interdisciplinary orientation of the institute, the development of an international network and the teaching staff and the operational management of the study program.
