Beaconsfield is a district in the southeast of the Australian metropolis Melbourne , about 46 km from the city center. In 2016 it had a population of 6,714.
The history of Beaconsfield began with the opening of a post office in 1878. A year later the place was connected to the railway network. The district is named after Benjamin Disraeli , 1st Earl of Beaconsfield.
