Beady Belle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beady Belle is a Norwegian jazz band of electronic jazz ( Nu Jazz or Acid Jazz ).

Band history

Beady Belle emerged from the collaboration between the Norwegian singer Beate S. Lech (born April 10, 1974) and Marius Reksjø , who played together as students in Oslo (Lech at the state music academy, Reksjø at the university) in bands such as "Insert Coin". Beate Lech was also the lead singer of “Folk & Røvere” (which released a CD with Sonet / Universal) and in the jazz project “Metropolitan” (released by Sony) and sang with Bugge Wesseltoft , Brazz Brothers and Jon Eberson . The band currently (2007) consists of Beate Lech (singer, composer), Marius Reksjø (bass, programming) and the drummer Erik Holm (and sometimes the keyboardist Jørn Øien). The band came into being when Lech, when she left “Folk & Røvere” in 1999, was given the opportunity by Bugge Wesseltoft to produce her own album in complete artistic freedom for his jazz label “Jazzland”, which was released in 2001 as her debut album “Home”. Lech had known Wesseltoft since she won a TV competition, the price of which was performing with a big band at the Molde Jazz Festival. Since 2001 they have been touring Europe and East Asia outside Norway.
