The Bean Peaks are a group of mountain peaks on the Orville coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . They rise up in the southwestern section of the Hauberg Mountains . They include Carlson Peak and Novocin Peak .
They were discovered during the US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948). The United States Geological Survey mapped them using its own surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1961 and 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountains after Lawrence D. Bean, an electrician at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station during the Antarctic winter of 1967 .
