Bear Grylls: Get Out Alive (Original Title: Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls ) is an American reality competition series hosted by the adventurer and survivor Bear Grylls .

With Bear Grylls as their guide, ten teams of two fight for survival in the wilderness of New Zealand . The teams have to cope with various tasks and missions, which often take place in difficult terrain such as high mountains, glaciers , canyons , in the rainforest and in rivers or rapids . Every week Bear Grylls picks a team to send home. The last remaining team will receive $ 500,000 in prize money.

Development and production

In October 2012, NBC gave the go-ahead for the production of eight episodes of the television series. The auditions for the candidates took place in nine cities in the United States in December 2012 and January 2013. The series was filmed on the South Island of New Zealand .
