Bear Mountain State Park is a 20.51 km² state park on the west side of the Hudson River in the US state of New York . It is located in Orange and Rockland Counties . The closest town is Jones Point .

The park opened on July 5, 1913, after plans to move Sing Sing Prison to Bear Mountain failed. In the 1920s, the park became famous for winter sports, which resulted in an application for the 1932 Winter Olympics.

The Bear Mountain Bridge is located north of the park and was the first bridge south of Albany , which over the Hudson went. Immediately afterwards is Iona Island (New York) , which is partially counted as an independent state park.
