Beat Junker

Beat Junker (born September 27, 1928 in Bern ; † January 5, 2019 ) was a Swiss historian .

The son of a middle school teacher and a primary school teacher studied at the universities of Bern and Bonn . In 1953 he obtained the high school teacher license and received his doctorate in 1955. From 1956 to 1978 he taught at the Hofwil teacher training college. In 1966 he completed his habilitation with Erich Gruner in Bern. From 1971 to 1992 he was associate professor at the University of Bern and from 1972 to 1978 President of the Historical Association of the Canton of Bern . From 1978 he worked on the continuation of Richard Feller's story of Bern with the support of the government of the Canton of Bern .
