Richard Feller

Richard Feller (born December 8, 1877 in Wattenwil , † September 20, 1958 in Bern ; resident in Köniz ) was a Swiss historian .

Life

The son of a teacher studied history at the University of Bern , a. a. with Gustav Tobler and Oskar Walzel , and graduated in 1903 with a secondary school teacher certificate . In the same year he received his doctorate , in 1907 he passed the high school teacher examination. He worked as a secondary teacher in Aarberg and Bern. In 1910 he received his habilitation . From 1921 to 1948 he was a full professor of Swiss history at the University of Bern.

His main work is the history of Bern (4 volumes, published 1946–1960).

His son Harald Feller was a diplomat and worked as a worker at the Swiss embassy in Budapest to save Hungarian Jews during World War II.
