Building

Moving walk to Rue Sainte-Catherine

The station designed by Adalbert Niklewicz was created as a tunnel station with a rather simple design. The platform level at a depth of 25.9 meters has two side platforms . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 378.76 meters to Berri-UQAM and 495.00 meters to Papineau . A small distribution level spans the tracks . There is no entrance on Boulevard De Maisonneuve itself. Instead, a slightly inclined moving walkway almost 100 meters long leads to the parallel rue Sainte-Catherine . There is a pavilion that was rebuilt in 1999 in a postmodern style; the design comes from the architects Béïque, Thuot, Legault . There are connections to a bus line and a night bus line of the Société de transport de Montréal .

The pavilion on Rue Sainte-Catherine is adorned by six aluminum masts designed by Jacques Thibault above the entrance. These are painted in the six colors of the rainbow flag , the internationally widespread symbol of the LGBT movement. The Beaudry station is located in the middle of Village gai , Montreal's lesbian and gay district that has existed since the early 1980s.

history

The Atwater - Papineau section was opened on October 14, 1966, but the opening of the Papineau intermediate station was delayed by more than two months and did not take place until December 21, 1966. Nevertheless, it is part of the basic network of the Montreal Metro. Name giver is the Rue Beaudry, named after the wholesaler Pierre Beaudry (1774-1848), over whose property the street once ran.
