Beaver Morrison

Beverley "Beaver" Jean Morrison (born 1950 in Lower Hutt , Wellington , † May 23, 2010 in Auckland ) was a New Zealand rock and jazz singer.
Morrison, who performed under the name Beaver, was the daughter of pianist John Morrison. In the early 1970s she toured as a member of the music theater group Blerta (and was the lead singer on their album), later with Red Mole . She also sang country music and played minor film roles, such as in Should I Be Good (1985). She had her own bands and sang the title track of the TVNZ series Gloss (1987 single).
In the mid-1980s she performed with Brian Smith and Geoff Castle in Auckland in a jazz context. Her album Live at Ronnie Scott’s (1987; with Ray Warleigh and Geoff Castle), made in London , was recognized as New Zealand's best jazz album in 1988.
On May 23, 2010, she died in a hospital in Auckland after six years of battling sarcoma of her serious illness.
