Rebecca "Bec" Hyatt (* 11. February 1989 in Launceston , Australia as Rebecca Rawlings ) is an Australian MMA -Kämpferin.

Life

Bec Hyatt grew up on the Australian island of Tasmania . In her early teens, she played basketball, gymnastics and athletics. After gaining weight rapidly, she discovered kickboxing in 2010 to get these problems under control. Because of the limited opportunities to practice her sport in Tasmania, she moved to Brisbane in 2011 . Dan Hyatt, her trainer there and later husband, got her excited about MMA . Bec Hyatt has two sons, Zake and Enson.

Athletic career

Australia

Known for her aggressive fighting style and extravagant looks, Hyatt began her career in Tasmania in 2010, initially with kickboxing. After moving to Brisbane, she made her MMA debut on October 15, 2011 at the Brace for War 12 event in Hobart , Tasmania. This fight was scheduled for bantamweight . So Hyatt had to leave her traditional weight class of straw weight for this fight against her much more experienced opponent, Rhiannon Thompson. With a spectacular head kick from Thompson, Hyatt lost by knockout in the first round. After switching back to straw weight, she won her next four fights against Australian opponents Sarah Morrison, Daniela Marjanovic, Rachel Sheridan and Christina Tatnell. This is how the US MMA organization "Invicta Fighting Championships" became aware of them at the end of 2012.

Invicta Fighting Championships

In November 2012, Bec Hyatt signed a three-fight contract with InvictaFC. It was first used on January 5, 2013 at the event InvictaFC 4: Esparza vs. Gadelha instead. First, she should fight there against the Scottish Joanne Calderwood . Due to an injury to Claudia Gadelha shortly before the event, she was offered the main fight for the "Invicta FC Strawweight Championship" against Carla Esparza. Despite the short lead time, Hyatt accepted without hesitation. Declared by the experts as a clear outsider, Bec Hyatt kept up the full fighting time of 5 rounds and was even able to put the winner Carla Esparza under strong pressure towards the end. The result was a unanimous decision by the judges for Esparza.

When it became known that the first Australian woman in the US was booked for a major MMA event, the Australian media became very interested in her. She has been interviewed and articles written on numerous TV programs, newspapers and magazines. This then continued in the USA. The German website "Boxhaus Blog" also published an interview with Hyatt. As a result, she got a lot of new fans and was voted "2012 Favorite Female Fighter" by them. Bec Hyatt fought against Austrian Jasminka Cive at the Invicta FC 5 event on April 5, 2013 at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City (Missouri), USA . She was able to win this fight with a surrender (armbar). At InvictaFC 6 on July 13, 2013, she had to admit defeat to the 18-year-old Japanese Mizuki Inoue.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Rawlings was signed for season 20 of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter with the subtitle A Champion will be crowned and was the seventh pick by coach Gilbert Melendiz. During the third episode, it was revealed that her father had died of Parkinson's . Rawling lost her prelim fight against Tecia Torres by unanimous decision and was thus eliminated from the tournament. Still, she got another opportunity to fight Heather Clark, whom Rawling also lost. She got a contract with the UFC and won her first two fights against Lisa Ellis and Seo Hee Ham. This was followed by four defeats, three of them by point decision.
