Jasminka Cive (bourgeois Jasminka Dizdarević; born July 24, 1981 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an Austrian mixed martial arts fighter. The battle name of Cive is Impressive , in the past sometimes Holy Terror .

Life

Born in Serbia, she moved to Austria with her family at the age of twelve. She started karate in her home country at the age of ten . In Austria she added kickboxing , muay thai and finally MMA to her sporting activities. In addition to active sport, she works as a promoter for martial arts events under the name "Mixfight Night" and as a referee.

In Austria she studied sports science . At the beginning of May 2013, Cive and her fiancé Willi Ott opened their own martial arts school called Happy Fight in Enns . Alongside this, she organizes MMA seminars in German-speaking countries together with the German fighter Sheila Gaff . In December 2014, she survived life-threatening blood poisoning.

Athletic career

Muay Thai and K-1

In 1998, at the age of 16, Cive started K-1 and Muay Thai. After a series of fights against well-known opponents in different weight classes and countries, injuries forced her to take a break of four years from competition. After four surgeries, Cive felt ready for fighting again in 2007, although doctors advised her not to. Then she became International Austrian Champion in the K-1 of ISKA . In 2009 she played a boxing match against a male opponent, which she won on points. Her opponent was hospitalized the following night with a concussion. Cive won the title Austrian Champion Full Muay Thai Rules in the super flyweight division of ISKA in 2010. Before switching to MM at the end of 2010, she played numerous other fights. Her competition statistics in Muay Thai and K-1 stand at 17 wins, six losses and one draw.

Mixed martial arts

Cive is one of the most internationally known European MMA athletes and, alongside Sheila Gaff, is the most successful in the German-speaking area. She was unbeaten in all of her fights between 2003 and April 5, 2013. This also made the Austrian media aware of them. The ORF dedicated a 30-minute report to her in 2012 and the private broadcaster LT1 also presented her in an article.

First she trained for almost two years with Ettl Bros. ( Gerhard and Michael Ettl ) in Graz . On May 8, 2010, Cive played her first professional match in Vienna against the Ukrainian Olga Denisenko. In round 1 the fight was over after an arm triangle choke in favor of Cive. At the Graz Cage Fight Series , one of the largest MMA events in Europe, she competed against the German Danny Rapf. This fight was incorporated into a 50-minute report on the Austrian TV station ATV about the life of Cive. The following three fights were all won by Cive by KO or TKO. In Vaduz on March 17th, 2012 the fight for the world title in women’s MMA of the MAX-FC association took place. With a TKO win in the third round against Eva Henesova from Slovakia, Cive also secured this title.

In June 2012 she signed a contract for three fights with the renowned US organization Invicta FC , which exclusively organizes women's MMA fights. It was planned to use Cive at the Invicta FC 2 event in Kansas City against the Japanese Ayaka Hamasaki. However, Cive was unable to get a visa due to a delay in transferring the papers from the USA, so she could not travel there. Invicta FC, however, assured her another chance at a US debut; Cive got this new chance for April 2013. Already at the end of January Invicta FC had a fight against the Australian Bec Hyatt at the event Invicta FC 5 in flyweight (115 pounds = 52.16 kg), international strawweight (straw weight 106-115 lbs = 48–52 kg). On April 5, 2013, the highly regarded event with international participation took place in the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City (Missouri) , USA. The event was streamed live on the internet. Due to a surrender (armbar) of her opponent, she lost this fight in round 1. In mid-August 2013, Cive signed another contract for four fights with the Polish organization Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW). Her debut fight there was on September 28, 2013 at KSW 24 in Łódź against local hero Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Due to a serious injury four days before the event, she had to cancel the fight. After Cive's recovery, the KSW strawweight title fight in Danzig took place on May 17, 2014 . After a good start, Cive was caught by an arm lever from Kowalkiewicz and had to tap.
