LT1 is an Austrian private TV broadcaster based in Linz .

history

In 1996, cable broadcasting of private television in Austria became legally possible. Wolf Dieter Holzhey won the competition for the license in the Wels and Wels-Land area. The private broadcaster WT1 , founded in July 1996, was the first regional TV broadcaster in Austria.

In 2000, Holzhey acquired 100% of the shares in Privatfernsehen GmbH , which had operated TV3 , the only local broadcaster in Linz until then. In 2001 TV3 was renamed to LT1 and switched from a weekly updated program to a daily updated program. Around 125,000 households with around 335,000 viewers can receive the program via cable. LT1 is the partner broadcaster of the regional Wels private broadcaster WT1, which was founded in 1996, and designs the program together with them.

In April 2003 the terrestrial broadcast began. This enabled around 550,000 people in eastern Upper Austria and western Lower Austria to receive LT1 both via cable and house antenna. With the takeover of 70% of the shares in MV Fernsehen und Medien GmbH (Regionales Fernsehen Mühlviertel MT1 / FT1 / RT1), the districts of Freistadt , Rohrbach , Urfahr-Umgebung and Perg have also been able to receive the broadcasting group's programs since 2004 .

In 2005 MV Fernsehen und Medien GmbH was completely taken over.

LT1 was broadcast digitally terrestrially (DVB-T) from June 27, 2007, officially as a test operation, by the Lichtenberg channel on channel 41. On March 30, 2010, there was a switch to channel 51.

The moderator Dietmar Maier has been program director since October 2007 and the second managing director of LT1 since 2009.
