Bechingen (Riedlingen)
Bechingen is a district of the city of Riedlingen in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . The formerly independent municipality, about four kilometers north of Riedlingen, was incorporated into the town of Riedlingen on October 1, 1974 with the district of Zell .
geography
The village, located on the edge of the Danube lowland under the slope of the Tautschbuch , is divided into an upper part, in which a large number of farmhouses form a closed ensemble, and a lower part. There are many large farms in a loose arrangement. The lower village is probably the older part.
history
Bechingen was first mentioned in a document in 1277. During the late Middle Ages , the town came into the possession of the nearby Zwiefalten monastery , which remained the sole landlord from 1476 until the secularization in 1802 .
Bechingen, which fell to Württemberg in 1803 , was subordinated to the Oberamt Zwiefalten . In 1810 the newly formed Oberamt Riedlingen was established , which in 1938 was incorporated into the district of Ehingen .
Attractions
The baroque Nikolauskapelle in the town center was built in 1736, it has a late Gothic and Baroque interior .
