Bedford master

The so-called Bedford Master (English Master of the Bedford Hours , Bedford Master ; French Maître de Bedford , Maître du Duc de Bedford ) was a French illuminator who worked in Paris from 1405-1465 . He is a provisional names for the Bedford Hours (Engl. Bedford Hours named), which was believed (Winkler 1914), that of John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford was (1389-1435), commissioned. His work also includes a breviary (Salisbury Breviary).

The work of the Master of Bedford was based on the Très Riches Heures of the Limburg brothers .

The master of Dunois is regarded as a student of the Bedford master, the master of the Munich Legenda Aurea , who also worked as an illuminator in Paris, is also considered a contemporary of the master of Bedford .
