description

The builder was Robert Archibald , who owned mills in Tillicoultry and neighboring Alva . The two-story villa was built in 1860. It has an L-shaped floor plan and is constructed asymmetrically. The entrance door is in the middle of the main wing. Your reveal is structured. It is surrounded by three asymmetrically arranged rows of windows, of which the eastern one emerges as a fountain and a long window runs over both floors. A quatrefoil decorates the gable surface above. The distinctive, stepped chimneys are gable and have octagonal pipes. Although it is also two-story, the west wing is a little lower. The windows are arranged on two vertical axes. Underneath a twin window is a more recent door. Both axes close with gable surfaces. The design of the chimneys corresponds to that of the main wing. In the east, a more recent one-storey extension is adjacent to the main building. The gable roofs are covered with slate shingles.
