As an escort , both endangered persons in the public as well as goods and items (especially valuables and referred to appropriate security measures, which aim securities ) during transport to effectively protect.

The escort in art and valuables transport is also referred to as transport escort, which is usually carried out by armed security couriers.

When it comes to escort protection for people at risk, a distinction is made between personal escort protection and personal protection; i. d. As a rule, an unarmed security guard is deployed while personal protection consists of several armed security guards (front and rear command).

'Escorts' or 'fighter parachutes' are also called the fighter planes that accompany bombers or bomber formations in order to defend them against attacking enemy fighter planes.

In some regions, merchant ships have armed security forces from the private sector on board because of the risk of pirate attacks (e.g. off the coast of Somalia ). In this case, too, one speaks of 'escort'.

Executive bodies

Escort protection is carried out by private security forces or by state organs (e.g. officials of the Federal Criminal Police Office or individual State Criminal Police Offices , the Federal Police or the Federal Armed Forces ) depending on the area of operation.
