The term cathexis or occupation of concepts denotes the conscious naming of phenomena with a word or “ concept ” that is close to one's own interest .

Examples

The concept of the Ministry of Defense (“we only use our armed forces for defense”) can serve as an early example of the use of the term , which has gained acceptance worldwide since the First World War and displaced older names such as the Ministry of War ( Ministry of the Army , etc.). Already several German armies were named in this sense ( Reich defense , defense makes , federal defense ), which is internationally again relatively rare (otherwise: Japanese Self-Defense Forces ).

In the 1970s, Erhard Eppler with the formation of the term conservative values taken the term "conservative" for his reform policies to complete, while Heiner Geissler with the formula the new social issue , the main competence of the SPD in the area of social favor of the CDU questioned.

In recent years the term reform has mostly been used in an economically liberal sense as deregulation and dismantling of state activity and performance. The term miracle, borrowed from the religious realm in connection with political and economic issues, is supposed to suggest that the respective responsible leadership is connected with their well-meaning “higher powers”, God (or, out of date: Providence ) (cf. Wirtschaftswunder , more recently Jobwunder etc. .), whereby it is noticeable that these terms were and are used by the mass media in Germany especially at the time of Christian-conservative governments.

The own side demonstrates military strength with maneuvers . The same behavior on the other side provokes or reveals aggressive intentions .
